Purple Cow Cakery’s Summer Baking Camp is a structured, skill-building baking and cake decorating program for children and teens. Campers learn real kitchen techniques, gain confidence, and bring home freshly baked goods each day.

 

Our camp focuses on hands-on learning, creativity, and building independence in the kitchen — all in a supportive, encouraging environment led by owner and cake designer Nicole Contursi.

Where is the summer camp located?

Our summer baking camps are held in Metuchen, New Jersey at Purple Cow Cakery’s studio space. Full-day sessions may also include partnered creative programming in the same location.

What ages can attend the baking camp?

Our summer camps are designed for children ages 5 and older. Campers are grouped by age to ensure appropriate instruction and skill development.

 

No prior baking or decorating experience is required.

What does my child learn at baking camp?

Campers learn:

• Kitchen safety and sanitation

• Measuring and reading recipes

• Baking cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and specialty treats

• Buttercream decorating techniques

Do campers need baking experience?

No. Our NJ baking camp is beginner-friendly and welcoming to all skill levels.

 

Whether your child is brand new to baking or already loves decorating cakes at home, our camp provides instruction tailored to their age and experience level.

 

What are the camp hours?

Half-Day Camp:

9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Drop-off begins at 8:30 AM

 

Full-Day Camp:

9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Pick-up by 4:30 PM

 

Extended drop-off or late pick-up may be available upon request.

What should my child bring to camp?

Each camper should bring:

• An apron

• A reusable water bottle

• A container to transport baked goods home

• Lunch (for full-day campers)

All baking ingredients and decorating supplies are provided.

 

Are snacks or lunch provided?

No. Campers will have the opportunity to sample the items they've baked. Campers are free to bring snacks if needed. Full-day campers must also bring lunch.

What about food allergies?

​Purple Cow Cakery operates in a working kitchen environment. While recipes are nut-free, allergens may be present.

If your child has food allergies or special dietary needs, please contact us before registering. Special accommodations require advance notice.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least 90 days before the camp start date are eligible for a refund minus a cancellation fee.

Cancellations made after this deadline are non-refundable.

If a session does not meet minimum enrollment requirements, families will receive a full refund.
